Bratislava is the capital city of Slovakia. It is located in the extreme southwest of the country, near the boarders of Austria, Hungary and Czech Republic. This proximity with these countries increase travel possibilities.
The Danube river (2nd longest river in Europe) cross the center of the capital. However there his a beautiful old town with a lot of cultural references.
We are going to the Slovak University of Technology which is the best University in Slovakia. Almost 12 000 students attend its faculties each year. We will follow classes on green engineering and technology.

It is a pretty big city with 450000 inhabitants. These people are very religious, the most part of them are Catholic and they have a very good hospitality.

The three main culinary specialties are the
Bryndzové Halusky(potato dumpling with ewes cheese and bacon), the  Kapustnica (cabbage and smoked sausage soup) and the Zemiakova placka (potato pancake with meat)

Some places have to be seen like the Hrad castle which overlooks the city, the main square Hlavné namestie and the church of Sainte-Elizabeth (the Blue Church) .

Transport : (Aurélien)

Different public services are proposed in Slovaquia. We can use the plane to move inside the country but it isn’t the best way to visit Slovaquia, the best one is probably the train. Indeed, the train is free for children but also for student like us. We can also use boat to navigate on the Danube, it can be a different way to reach Budapest for example. To finish, bus is another mean of transport used frequently, it’s cheaper and unlike the train, it serve more cities.

Lodgement : (Aurélien)

We made the request for the dormitories in December and we have been accepted, actually we have the number of our rooms. Now, we are waiting to discover the way of life in dormitories and how is the atmosphere with others students. If we aren’t satisfied maybe we will look for a flat like our colleagues in Budapest.

Student life : (Quentin)

First, you should know that the cost of living is on average 30% to 50% cheaper.
Slovakia is in the center of Europe so it has a strategic position to travel. Indeed, for less than 15 € can go to cities such as Vienna (in Austria) and Budapest (Hungary).

During our entire stay in Bratislava we will study at Slovak university of technology in Bratislava. It is a university which welcomes more than 12,000 students each year. There are several student offices. Indeed, one for each sector since the school consists of bachelor, engineer and doctorate cycles. Student offices organize throughout the year parties, sports tournaments, excursions, etc. There is an association specializing in welcoming ERASMUS students.

In addition, there are several more cultural associations. Like cooking associations or sports associations with football, hockey, basketball, ... Then an association takes care of managing a radio station just for the university. Finally, a reading association exists to discuss all of the books read during the week.

Finally, the four of us would like to participate in an association in order to better integrate and improve our language.

We can take a guided tour of the Bratislava tourist bus. In Bratislava several games such as treasure hunts offer the possibility of discovering the city. Slovak beer is the cheapest in Europe. Moreover, many organizations organize pub discoveries that allow you to savour the best beers. Legislation is not the same in France.
